In 2009, Shannon decided to hand up his boots after an 11-year career in Australia's National Rugby League (NRL). On the 3rd April, 1999, he made his professional debut, scoring a try for the Sydney Roosters in a 34-10 victory over the North Queensland Cowboys. Shannon remained with the Roosters for five seasons before moving in 2005 to local rivals the South Sydney Rabbitohs. He joined the North Queensland Cowboys in 2009 for what turned out to be his final season.
Shannon, a qualified personal trainer, now runs his own business, Down Under Fitness, in Jacksonville, Florida.
In common with many of his contemporaries, Shannon has posed nude for the 'Gods of Football' calendar. Enjoy!
